about;
MEG is a Japanese singer, model and fashion designer who made her debut under the name “meg” in 2001. First drawing attention as a young model in magazines like CUTIE and non-no, she began to be noticed more for her music after producer Okamura Yasuyuki took her under his wing between 2002 and 2003.

In 2004, she would separate from Okamura and her first major record label in search of creative freedom and independence, beginning her own small label Shampoo Nine Records and collaborating with a number of musicians active in Japan’s electronic scene while also getting started as a fashion designer with her brand cheryl (later to become CAROLINA GLASER by cheryl). By 2006, she would change the capitalization of her stage name to MEG in pursuit of a bolder image, and as of 2007, she had entered into a full-time working relationship with producer Nakata Yasutaka of capsule, signing to Universal Music Japan and bringing her music back into the public eye in the wake of Nakata-produced girl group Perfume’s success on the charts.

Inbetween working with Nakata, she has also collaborated with English band Hadouken! and New York’s Dave Liang of the Shanghai Restoration Project. Today, her style is frequently seen on the covers and in the pages of magazines like SEDA and Zipper. Now, in 2012, she has returned to Japan to continue her music after a year-long hiatus spent in France.
